The first ever Men of Laguna Beach Calendar was produced to raise money and awareness to help save Laguna Beach's landmark gay bar the Boom Boom Room, the oldest gay bar in the Western United States dating back to 1947. All proceeds from the sales of this calendar will go to support SAVE the BOOM!! and local Laguna Beach charities.
35 men, both gay and straight, attended an open casting from which five Hollywood judges picked 20 finalists.
AOL's QueerSighted.com posted photos and bios of the 20 finalists for America to view and vote on while the Laguna Beach Coastline Pilot ran a full-page story, directing readers to their website to vote for their favorites as well.
The men appearing in this calendar are a result of these online polls and were chosen by a panel of judges. The entire process from start to finish, was a complete success and a big hit for those involved.
Save The Boom is now actively seeking someone to buy or lease this magnificent oceanfront property who will keep The Boom as a gay establishment, just as it has been for the last 60 years.
